Character Name: Cerceus Tethys Eil Ton
Species: Merfolk

Physical Appearance: In his natural form, Cerceus has the head and upper body of a human. His skin is lightly tanned and the contours of his body are traced with scales. Gills flap disconcertingly along both sides of his throat, and his fingers are very slightly webbed. His lower half is that of a powerful fish, covered in glistening scales in silver and various shades of green. No white shows in his eyes, which become entirely iris and pupil, and his teeth are pointed and razor sharp.

When he takes human form, the gills remain. His hands lose their webbing, but his feet are always thickly webbed. All of his scales disappear, his teeth become normal, flat, human teeth, and his eyes take on normal human structure as this is more suitable to daylight. 5’7” in human form, about 7’10” long in natural form, he has black hair with green undertones and eyes such a dark green they’re nearly black. His build is medium, about 145lbs in human form and 270lbs otherwise. Celtic knot armband tattoos wrap around his biceps in green.

Personality Description: Cerceus is assertive and at times, can be abrasive. He tends to call the truth as he sees it without worrying too much about how it will hurt peoples' feelings. He doesn't do it in order to be offensive, but because he doesn't see the point in dissembling - in his mind, the world would be much simpler if people just said what they mean. He has a finely tuned sense of sarcasm, however, and often uses it to mask more pointed comments. Growing up with two essentially male parents (Elohim are technically genderless) has left him with little patience for the softer emotions, weakness, or drama. He is unused to women and finds many of their stereotypical characteristics repulsive... this makes him a bit of a misogynist, and he's often quick to ridicule examples of what he sees as 'typical female behavior', such as nagging, emotional blackmail or manipulation, crying for any reason, gossip, or dramatics. Women who don't often display these characteristics will find him more tolerable. A degree of self-possession and maturity will quickly earn his respect. On the purely physical end, he's capable of finding women physically attractive, so he is effectively bisexual, but his discomfort around them means his female partners would be few and far between. He is, however, a complete sucker for a submissive woman... ironically, a girl who is prepared to treat him like a king will quickly find herself with a powerful lover wrapped around her little finger.

Like any Merfolk, Cerceus has a predatory nature that's only been increased by his demonic parentage. He would prey on humans if given a chance, but not out of malice - drowning and eating people is simply what his kind DO, and he sees no reason to change his nature. However, he makes exceptions for land-creatures he knows personally... knowing the name of one's food makes for awkward eating.

Powers: The song of a merman (or mermaid) has a great deal of power. Cerceus can change the weather, summoning or banishing storms. He can pitch his voice to a siryn tune that ensnares the minds of mortals, hypnotizing them and making them very vulnerable to suggestion, which he’s only too willing to supply. He can speak to and command sea creatures, and has limited control over the water itself which enables him to guide the size and frequency of waves and create whirlpools that could suck a swimmer down. Cerceus is approximately ten times as strong as a human being, capable of breaking a man’s spine with a blow of his table or tearing a human being apart with his bare hands.

Universe of Origin: Based on Greek Mythology
History: Cy was born to a merman named Lethiel and an Elohim named Erlissan, created from a mixing of their respective essences, given life by stealing a spark from each of their souls. He has an older brother named Takael, a true Nephilim, and a much younger brother named Taliesin, also a Merman, whom he loves very deeply. He grew up generally happy, preying on humans, loved by his family, a proud Welsh citizen. He was exploring along the coast when he found a curious, small round door set into the seabed. Prying it open, he wiggled through and found himself in a surrealistic underwater world, a stretch of ocean that was both familiar and yet unfamiliar.

Domain Description:


Cy’s domain is an underwater grotto with tunnels, niches, and murky green saltwater. The waves are usually choppy and briny. Fish, kelp, and other saltwater creatures are plentiful – there are even a few sharks, though dolphins are absent. The wooden bones of a handful of sunken ships are half-buried in the silt, ghostly in the dim light filtering down through the water.
